Birkenhead Powder Coating

Our wheel restoration process is where our experts shot-blast by hand to remove the layers of lacquer to the bare metal surface, which will then be followed by the coating process. You can either bring your wheels in with or without the tyres, as we will strip and refit them while also re-balancing the wheels for an additional charge. We will fit the weights to the inside of the rim so it will not spoil the appearance of the wheel.

Next the wheels are heated which will remove all air from the alloy, therefore making the powder stick better. This is done for around twenty minutes with the oven at full temperature. The powder coat finish is applied and then cured in the oven again for around another twenty minutes. Finally a clear lacquer coat is applied over the first coating in the same manner (if silver). This is to enhance and protect the alloy wheel for longer.
