Architecture Workshops Association

Architecture Workshops has been established as an Unincorporated Association for the purposes of educating all ages about Architecture, Design and the Built Environment.

Architecture Workshops are hands-on fun educational activities for all Key Stages and abilities. Designed to enhance the national curriculum and to communicate the art and experience of architecture, art, and design.

Architecture Workshops help resource the school curriculum by providing pupils with insight into why and how things are the way they are.

In the workshop, the quest for understanding the world around us is a shared experience between workshop presenter 'animateur' and the pupils.

Visualising, designing, creating, calculating and analysing are presented through practical activities. Pupils enjoy and learn about the real world through 'learning by doing', self teaching and communicating to others.

OUR WORKSHOPS:

- Giant Tetrahedron: Tetrahedrons are for us the starting point of many of our workshops, so we like to start building them with Reception children, so when we work with them at Key Stage One and Two, they already have some experience of the construction techniques on which to build.  Thus giving the children increased levels of self esteem and a can do attitude, from the earliest possible moment.

- Reception Workshop: Designed to stimulate imaginations and excite children and teachers alike, the workshop focus is on simple ideas to great effect.
Using numbers, counting, shapes and space pupil’s work together to build simple modular forms.

- Key Stage 1 Workshop: Using numbers, counting, shapes and space pupil’s work together to build simple modular forms.

- Key Stage 2, 3, 4 and 5 Workshop: Using design technology, maths and science these workshops are designed to stimulate pupil’s imagination, interpretative and visual problem solving skills helping to develop higher order thinking skills.

- Build It Workshop: These are structured workshops, using design technology, maths, and science to differing degrees. Students create large scale reconstructions of architectural landmarks.

- Kre8 Workshop: Workshops focusing on investigation, disassembly and
evaluation as design and make assignments.
